About Girls Who Code Clubs
Clubs are extracurricular programs created by Girls Who Code. It teaches participants about Computer Science in a fun and safe environment! Clubs take place throughout the academic year and serve as a place for girls to spend time together while learning about computer science and building their confidence.
Our Clubs encourage girls to impact their community in a positive way through code. Girls are able to engage in fun and simple online coding tutorials, build community through interactive activities, and learn about inspiring role models. The girls then work in teams to build a culminating Girls Who Code Project, where they use coding skills to solve a real world problem they care about.
The Clubs are FREE after-school programs. Computer science or coding experience is NOT REQUIRED to join a Club!

what is a girls who code project?
The Girls Who Code Project is what drives the Clubs experience!
As a team, members will choose a real-world issue that is important to them. Over the course of the Club, participants will build their computer science skills while planning and creating a project that relates to that issue. The Club ends with a GWC Project Launch Party, where each team shows off what they have built, why it matters, and how they have grown.
Participants may pick any topic that matters to them personally, whether it is local, national, or international. As a team, they will design and build their project in whatever way makes the most sense for their topic. In the past, GWC Club members have built games, developed informational websites, and even created helpful apps aimed at fixing a real-world problem.
You can find examples of past GWC Projects in the Project Gallery.
